Problems with Pokémon Go ? Read on


When Pokémon Go launched a little over a week ago, I just couldn’t wait and got the application before it launched in my country. It installed correctly, I could find and catch Pokémons, but what didn’t work was the Augmented Reality function. Now, to figure out what was wrong I did the following steps and I hope they might help you.

  1. Go to Call and type in the following manually: *#*#7378423#*#*
  2. It will take you to a black screen with white text. On that screen, select Service Tests.
  3. On this screen, what I did was do the following tests: GPS, Accelerometer and Gyroscope.

The problem for me with Augmented Reality was that Gyroscope weren’t working. The Cube on the test screen didn’t move around at all so it couldn’t really place the Pokémon via the AR function. Before troubleshooting further, I simply restarted my phone, went back into the service tests and did the same ones again. (as explained in above steps) Lo’ and behold, now everything was working fine!

I haven’t really ran into any other problems while playing except the occasional crashes of the app where you have to force restart it. That happens quite often in fact.
